Comment ID: #1 Name: Wayne I liked that the whole article was about Atlas. Interesting how she tied the sad philosophy of today's politicians to Schwarzenegger.

Comment ID: #2 Name: Fortitudine E-mail: canadian.republic(at)hotmail.com URL: http://www.thecanadianrepublic.blogspot.com I read the review of Schlaes's "The Forgotten Man" in the spring issue of TOS and I've been considering picking it up ever since. Is it worth my time, Diana, or does the review pretty much cover the best that the book has to offer?

Comment ID: #3 Name: Diana Hsieh E-mail: diana(at)dianahsieh.com URL: http://www.dianahsieh.com/blog I haven't read Ari's review yet, but I can't imagine that it covers all the book has to offer. The book is quite rich in details.

Comment ID: #4 Name: Fortitudine E-mail: canadian.republic(at)hotmail.com URL: http://www.thecanadianrepublic.blogspot.com Ari distills the (somewhat bloated, from what I understand) book down to its essentials quite adeptly but, as you say, I'm sure he had to exclude much for the sake of concision. Thank you for your opinion. I think I'll shuffle it onto my summer reading list.

Comment ID: #5 Name: Ashley King E-mail: atking(at)mtaonline.net I found her book OK but found myself having to several retakes to capture her meaning. I didn't appreciate Schlaes' cheap swipe at AS's literary merits. As far as the Great Depression, I have found John T. Flynn's The Roosevelt Myth quite a good read, four stars to Schlaes' three.
