Walking Cultural Activism: People of Reason

By Greg Perkins @ 12:01 PM

Tammy and I thought it would be great to produce a series of T-shirt designs for those occasions when it is appropriate to wear our ideas on our sleeves.  Bonus points if they aren't just provocative but actually spark some good engagement!

Here is a design that underscores a cardinal value, the primary virtue, our essential nature -- highlighting a fundamental contrast with all those who tout being people of faith:

(Just click through to BoltOfReason.Com to check out all the available styles and colors. We of course love suggestions and requests -- we're already working on a lot of fun ideas, and if you are the first to hit us with a new one that we use in a future shirt design, you'll get one for free!)

Evolution is biology
The rest is just religion

Why make money when you can print it? (appropriate picture of the fed)

What is 2+2?
Why does it matter? (appropriate picture of the fed)

I don't believe in God
I thought about it

For the economists out there, I came up with the following epigram and put it to a shirt on Cafe Press: http://www.cafepress.com/hyperinflation

"M3. Some governments lie with statistics, others without."

(M3 is the measure of the money supply that the government no longer reports, for nefarious inflation-concealing reasons.)

I've done this with a number of slogans. It's great for parties.

One says,
REMEMBER:
Marijuana is
illegal

With "illegal" written in red. Drug dealers stop me all the time downtown, but I'm young and I look like I smoke pot.

Another says,

"And say, finally, whether peace is best preserved by giving energy to the government or information to the people. This last is the most certain and the most legitimate engine of government. Educate and inform the whole mass of the people. Enable them to see that it is their interest to preserve peace and order, and they will preserve them. And it requires no very high degree of education to convince them of this. They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

The line "Educate and inform the whole mass of the people." is written in red.
