Nick Provenzo on Laura Ingraham Show

By Diana Hsieh @ 4:28 AM

Nick Provenzo writes:
I am slated to be a guest on the nationally syndicated Laura Ingraham Show at 10:30 AM Monday morning to defend a woman's moral right to have an abortion. Ingraham's show is tied as the fifth highest-rated radio talk show in America. I have been told that my segment will be run approximately 10 to 12 minutes. Ingraham is a staunch opponent of abortion and I expect my appearance to be a hard-fought battle of ideas.

To find a station carrying the broadcast in your area, visit here.

To call the show, dial 1-800-876-4123.
Fight the good fight, Nick!

Update #1: Nick hasn't been on yet, but he is upcoming, as Ingram has mentioned him. You can listen to the live stream here.

Update #2: Nick did as well as he could have, but Laura Ingraham was not even remotely fair in her interview. I'll say more in a post later today or tomorrow.

I'll be listening, but expect that it'll be like always; she'll have you play the role of punching bag for her points, not allowing you to get in more than a word or two before cutting you off. My advice would be to move the ear-piece away from your ear and speak your answer. (I really can't stand her - she's the female version of O'Reilly)

"Battle of ideas"? I've heard Ingraham talk, and I can't say as I've ever heard anything coherent come out of her.

If so, I need to get to a radio!

Pretty much went as you'd expect, she monopolizes the audio and demonstrates typical anti-logic. Anyway, nicely done Nick.

What a joke! How can people listen to this crap?

He did get in some good points though, and given what he had to deal with, I'm amazed he kept his cool as much as he did.

Funny, but she was a guest on the local station, a couple hours earlier, complaining about the Republicans abandoning Capitalism - that they basically just pay lip-service to it.

Not surprising. Their goal, never forget, is to "win" debates by any means possible, including contradiction, and convenient reference to principles (but ONLY when it is convenient).

As you may have found, Ingraham has a clip (which seems to be minimally edited) on her website.

Although I wince a bit at the thought of driving traffic there, I think you'll find that Nick held his own quite well.

In case anyone's wondering, that's Robert Nasir, the Hubby-One, who posted above. I have never listened to this entity's show. My first reaction was, "Is this really a woman speaking?"

What's interesting is her and others approach to morality. Morality is a list of commandments and dogmas disconnected from reality-based consideration. So when Nick states correctly that it is moral for a woman to choose to have an abortion, these sickos interpret this as, "it is a moral IMPERATIVE for a woman to choose to have an abortion." (And then proceed to project utopian or eugenic motivations.) They have no idea what Nick means by morality. So they twist this around to interpret him as saying that it is immoral for a woman to bring a disabled child into the world, since it is a moral commandment for her to have an abortion. They see no connection between reason and action.

"Virtue and reason are intertwined," i.e. virtue-for-its-own-sake and faith are intertwined with reason. SURE it is. She really had a hard time putting words into Nick's mouth. Way to go Nick!! And her response, "Put a sock in it, you're annoying." That won the argument.

Nick, you did fantastic. This Laura woman is a real-life troll and you studiously avoided her baits. Congrats

This is so fucking disgusting. It's not immoral for anyone to choose to have their own baby. Maybe this woman would have been traumatized, with real psychological problems by not having it. Wouldn't having it be a rational choice in that case?

He does evade the main argument he made for it being an irrational choice. His argument is that a retarded child would not be self-sufficient and not even worth being given life by choice. Ingraham asked if other self insufficient members of society should lose their rights.

OMG, Jennifer, no one said it's immoral to have a retarded baby! He never even said its irrational for a woman to choose that.

He said she needs to take everything into consideration. Why is it so hard for you to understand????

No one said its per se immoral to have a down syndrome baby.

Laura Ingraham has partial audio of the interview free on her website.
One thing amusing, this was the first time I've heard Ayn Rand's name mispronounced "Ayn Rind." She got the hard word right but failed on the easy one.
In the abortion discusssion, Laura jumped all over the place, making it seem like Nick was calling for mandatory abortion, which he wasn't.
He clarified his position once. But could have been stronger.

I was surprised and pleased to hear Nick defending women's rights with Ingraham, who is a very conservative Catholic. I suspect she got so shrill because Nick was shining some light on the ugly core of her duty-driven morality. Other conservatives like Limbaugh and Mark Levin (even tonight) have referred very positively to Ayn Rand. Ingraham, representing the religious right, could only snarl.
