Do You Know Your English Words?

By Paul Hsieh @ 1:19 PM

Today's quiz is simple, but challenging: "The 100 Most Common English Words".

"See how many of the 100 most common words in the English language you can guess in 5 minutes..."

I got 45/100. Diana didn't do quite as well.

Our prediction is that a superstar like Eric Daniels will probably get 60/100 -- no pressure, Eric!

I tied you Paul (45/100). I didn't like the interface. I went to type "one", but hadn't already typed "on" and it chose that... I wasn't watching close enough and missed "one".

Okay, I confess, I only got 58. I missed some super obvious ones, too! Ack!
The ones I missed but was most surprised about: sound, number, people.
I would never have guessed those.

Of course, the other quiz, asking you to name the 50 largest
countries (or unclaimed/disputed territories) in five minutes
is much more fun.

I scored 45/50. Not bad, I guess. I bet I can name all fifty capitals
in less a minute and put them on a map within 100 km., though.

I got 46/100. It actually helped that I was watching television at the time!

On the countries, I got 26/50. That was really tough... I am not good at spelling some of those names.

46, but I'd have had more if I'd done it intelligently. Which I would do if the hour were not late and if I hadn't drunk a bit of red wine....

39/100. I probably would have done better with a glass of red wine ;)

whoa 46/50 is pretty insane for the countries. I got 31/50. And I'm foreign too I thought that would help.

42. But I was a little rushed doing it right before work. I should have waited till tonight. Oh well.

40/50 on countries. I lost a lot of time because of my poor spelling. Oral Quiz = Higher Score.

Venizuela?
Venezula?
Venzuala?
Venezuela...>_<

I got 37 of the countries. (Yeah, so I missed Namibia and the Central African Republic. Sue me.)

Jesus, Eric, 45??
