A few months ago, I was surfing various Christian web sites regarding modesty in dress. (I can no longer recall why.) I ran across the following story in this article on the topic. In just a few short sentences, it summarizes all that is so horribly wrong with the Christian view of sex.
One newlywed in our ministry held up a bare little summer dress to her husband, and shaking her head said, "This has got to go." He said, "But . . that's one of my favorite dresses!" She said, "Yes, but why do you like it so much?" He slowly smiled and agreed--and out it went! Heaven forbid that a man ever look at his own wife with lust in his heart! (Actually, the colloquial phrase is literally apt here, as Heaven does indeed forbid.) *shudder* Labels: Religion |
